Max Price


Dr Max Price took up the post of Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Town in July 2008. He is Chair of Worldwide Universities Network, Chair of the African Research Universities Alliance, and Vice-Chair of Higher Education South Africa. From 1996 to 2006, Dr Price was dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of the Witwatersrand.

Dr Price has degrees from the universities of the Witwatersrand (Medicine), Oxford (BA), and London (Public Health) and has published extensively in the fields of public health policy and health science education. He has worked in hospitals in Johannesburg and in rural South Africa, was a research fellow at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and was director of the Centre for Health Policy at Wits University.
